DESCRIPTION:Using a range of case studies\, this presentation will offer advice and suggestions for researching the places of origin in Ulster of Scots-Irish families.\n\nAbout the Presenter\nWilliam Roulston is the Research Director for the Ulster Historical Foundation. He is involved in a number of organizations in the heritage field and serves as a Member of Council of both the Belfast Natural History and Philosophical Society and the Presbyterian Historical Society of Ireland\, and is the Convener of the Reformed Presbyterian Church History Committee. He has lectured widely on a range of historical and genealogical subjects in the UK\, Ireland and North America.\n\nWilliam is the author of a number of books looking at different aspects of the history of Ireland and the sources for its study\, including Researching Scots-Irish Ancestors\, 1600–1800 (2022)\, Researching Presbyterian Ancestors in Ireland (2020) and Researching Farming Ancestors in Ireland (2021).\n\nThis event will be recorded for later viewing on CLP’s YouTube channel. DESCRIPTION:This will be a discussion-based circle focused on music appreciation from an analytical and personal perspective – basically a “Deep Listening” group. We’ll explore various types of music through things such as: historical context\, melodic framework and sonic details\, artist inspiration\, personal experiences and interpretation\, and whatever else naturally comes up in discussion! Various materials and resources will be used to aid us in the goal of Deep Listening as well. Each session\, one or two participants will recommend a song or album for the group to listen to\, then lead a discussion taking into account (if applicable) the different lenses previously mentioned. The goal is to share and analyze music together\, potentially gaining new perspectives on songs or albums we may not have considered before.\n\n\nWe Learn groups are volunteer-facilitated peer learning groups. SUMMARY:LDA of PA Presents Early Literacy Tutoring
DESCRIPTION:LDA of PA is excited to offer its Early Literacy Instruction program for students in kindergarten through second grade at CLP – Hill District and CLP – Brookline. Pairing up to four students per tutor and utilizing multi-sensory reading tutoring techniques\, this program teaches reading\, spelling\, and handwriting in fun\, interactive\, and multisensory ways. The curriculum includes sight words\, sound mastery\, letter formation\, phonics\, vocabulary\, fluency\, reading comprehension\, the alphabetic principle\, and more. \nStudents that need reading support at specific grade levels can join fun and interactive classes:   \nAt CLP – Hill District we offer tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5 PM.   \nAt CLP – Brookline we offer tutoring Tuesday and Fridays 3-5 PM.   \nStudents will be expected to attend 2 sessions per week at their chosen library to make significant progress in their literacy skills. Registration is required. Once a student has registered\, LDA of PA will respond via email or phone to enroll the student in the appropriate class.
