DESCRIPTION:Join Appalachian quiltmaker and storyteller Griffin Nordstrom for a hands-on exploration of quilting at CLP-West End. Griffin’s work explores themes of reuse through craft and reinterpreting history through a contemporary lens\, and these workshops invite you to do the same. \nParticipants will learn about a variety of quilting styles while contributing to a collaborative community quilt. All skill levels are welcome\, and you’re free to attend as many or as few sessions as you like. Materials and tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! Pairing up to four students per tutor and utilizing multi-sensory reading tutoring techniques\, this program teaches reading\, spelling\, and handwriting in fun\, interactive\, and multisensory ways. The curriculum includes sight words\, sound mastery\, letter formation\, phonics\, vocabulary\, fluency\, reading comprehension\, the alphabetic principle\, and more. \nStudents that need reading support at specific grade levels can join fun and interactive classes:   \nAt CLP – Hill District we offer tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5 PM.   \nAt CLP – Brookline we offer tutoring Tuesday and Fridays 3-5 PM.   \nStudents will be expected to attend 2 sessions per week at their chosen library to make significant progress in their literacy skills. Registration is required. Once a student has registered\, LDA of PA will respond via email or phone to enroll the student in the appropriate class.
