DESCRIPTION:Join Appalachian quiltmaker and storyteller Griffin Nordstrom for a hands-on exploration of quilting at CLP-West End. Griffin’s work explores themes of reuse through craft and reinterpreting history through a contemporary lens\, and these workshops invite you to do the same. \nParticipants will learn about a variety of quilting styles while contributing to a collaborative community quilt. All skill levels are welcome\, and you’re free to attend as many or as few sessions as you like. Materials and tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! Registration is required. \n\nLearn strategies for using T-shirts and neckties in quilting\, including cutting techniques to maximize usable material\, appliqué applications\, and methods for stabilizing difficult fabrics.

SUMMARY:AIR Quilting Workshop: Open Studio Sew-a-Thon!
DESCRIPTION:Join Appalachian quiltmaker and storyteller Griffin Nordstrom for a hands-on exploration of quilting at CLP-West End. Griffin’s work explores themes of reuse through craft and reinterpreting history through a contemporary lens\, and these workshops invite you to do the same. \nParticipants will learn about a variety of quilting styles while contributing to a collaborative community quilt. All skill levels are welcome\, and you’re free to attend as many or as few sessions as you like. Materials and tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! \n\nAccess to sewing machines and tools to work on patches for the community quilt project. Griffin will be present to provide assistance while actively working in the studio and available to discuss his process and projects.
