Pittsburgh is taking literacy to new heights this summer with our “Flights of Imagination” Summer Reading program thanks to partnerships with companies like Duolingo. Readers, young and old, throughout the city have already surpassed our ambitious goal of 80,000 books. We can’t wait to celebrate and reveal the grand total of books read this summer at Extravaganza on August 10, 2025.

Duolingo is celebrating their fourth year as the Official Sponsor of Summer Reading programming at CLP – East Liberty and as a two-year sponsor of the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books, recently renamed Pgh Book Fest for 2026. Their dedication to the community, the Library’s mission and celebrating reading throughout the year stems from their own commitment to education and accessibility.

“At Duolingo, we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality education. That’s why we’re proud to continue supporting the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Summer Reading Program, removing barriers, inspiring joyful learning, and cultivating a love of reading across our local communities,” says Kendra Ross, Head of Social Impact at Duolingo.

With partners like Duolingo we can “level up” our efforts to bring imagination, joy and community to our patrons all summer long. We are glad they are part of our neighborhood and our mission to expand literacy throughout our beautiful city!
