Join Appalachian quiltmaker and storyteller Griffin Nordstrom for a hands-on exploration of quilting at CLP-West End. Griffin’s work explores themes of reuse through craft and reinterpreting history through a contemporary lens, and these workshops invite you to do the same.
Participants will learn about a variety of quilting styles while contributing to a collaborative community quilt. All skill levels are welcome, and you’re free to attend as many or as few sessions as you like. Materials and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer! Registration is required.
Learn how to make a Crazy Quilt block, a common style of sewing from the Victorian era. Using clothing scraps and irregular pieces, quilts made in this style resemble a tile mosaic.
