Join the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Ash Strazzinski at the South Side Branch for a hands-on book making workshop. In this bookbinding workshop, participants will create a one-of-a-kind book by binding unique materials. The books can then be used as the artist sees fit: a sketchbook, a journal, photo album, or simply a bound collection of materials and textures. There will be a variety of supplies available to workshop participants to bind along with paper and collage materials from deaccessioned books.
The first hour of each session will be reserved for discussion and exploration of materials and DIY binding methods. The remaining three hours will be studio time where the artist-in-residence artist will be available to assist with binding.
Attendance is *not* required for both sessions, however, participants are welcome and encouraged to attend both sessions as open studio/work time.
