On Sunday, August 10, 2025, CLP – Main was buzzing with activity as patrons gathered to celebrate the conclusion of Summer Reading 2025 at Extravaganza. This summer, we engaged over 8,000 participants (a 16% increase from 2024), including scholars from Pittsburgh Public Schools, encouraging them to reach a goal of reading at least five books. Readers throughout the City quickly soared past our goal of 80,000 books, and they kept on going.
At Extravaganza, library patrons of all ages came together to celebrate the 2025 Summer Reading Program and to hear the announcement of our remarkable achievement: over the ten weeks of Summer Reading, 145,774 books were logged! Together, we read 116% more books than the previous year.
It takes dedicated partners to help us reach such heights. Since 2018, JPMorganChase has been a champion of literacy as a Summer Reading Sponsor, enabling the Library to cultivate a culture of creativity, exploration, and — dare we say — fun in our mission to expand literacy in our region.
