Recently it was announced that Pitt will be launching the first program to study horror. The University will also support StokerCon, an annual conference for all things that go bump in the night. With their daring and experimental releases, small presses are making big impressions.
Subgenres are endless for horror. Folk horror continues to fester with regional offerings from West Virginia and Northern Appalachia reigning supreme with authors like Andrew Joseph White and Kay Chronister. Other recent trends include capturing the magic of the VHS B-movie with books exploring the nostalgia of fear.
