Volunteer

A CLP volunteer working with a child

Hello, Volunteers!

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is excited to host project-based volunteer opportunities, as well as limited singular volunteer opportunities. Our aim for volunteers at the Library is to have meaningful opportunities for both volunteers and patrons.

Libraries work best with community involvement! Join the hundreds of volunteers who give their time and talent to support Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and our neighbors each year.

Volunteers impact literacy and learning at the Library in so many ways:

  • Facilitating peer-to-peer learning groups for adults to explore topics of community interest, including advanced computer skills, world languages, and more. See examples on our website.
  • Being a caring adult and available for homework help in our children’s spaces as a Reading Buddy
  • Co-facilitating our Next Chapter Book Club
  • Promoting library programs and services
  • Helping with special events
  • Advocating and fundraising

Please note: We expect that volunteer interest will outpace the amount of available volunteer opportunities. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to check back for more upcoming opportunities. To sign up for our volunteer eNewsletter or for any questions, please reach out to volunteers@carnegielibrary.org or call 412-622-3189.
