We Learn: Deep Listening: Music Appreciation through Analysis & Reflection
Jan 31 | 11 am – 12 pm
CLP – Mt. Washington
315 Grandview Avenue
Pittsburgh,
PA
15211
Age Group: Adults
This will be a discussion-based circle focused on music appreciation from an analytical and personal perspective – basically a “Deep Listening” group. We’ll explore various types of music through things such as: historical context, melodic framework and sonic details, artist inspiration, personal experiences and interpretation, and whatever else naturally comes up in discussion! Various materials and resources will be used to aid us in the goal of Deep Listening as well. Each session, one or two participants will recommend a song or album for the group to listen to, then lead a discussion taking into account (if applicable) the different lenses previously mentioned. The goal is to share and analyze music together, potentially gaining new perspectives on songs or albums we may not have considered before.
We Learn groups are volunteer-facilitated peer learning groups. We Learn Groups meet in person but use a hybrid model with online learning materials. This group meets on Saturdays: Jan 31, Feb 7, Feb 14, Feb 21, Feb 28 at CLP-Mt. Washington.
