Library Resources

A woman and man laugh over a book in the middle of a library aisle

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh envisions a vibrant community where people of all ages are actively engaged in the joy of books and reading online spaces and in-person. CLP is dedicated to fostering a community where authors and readers connect, amplifying a diverse range of voices and uplifting local voices.

One of our favorite things to do at the library is to help you discover your next great read, watch, or listen. Looking to connect with an author directly? We host events year-round! See below for a variety of ways you can discover authors, new titles, and hidden treasures in our collections!

Materials Match

Looking for a personal touch? Fill out the Materials Match form and we’ll send you a list of suggestions hand-picked just for you! Whether you are looking for your next favorite book, something you will enjoy reading over (and over, and over) to your child, or the perfect gift for the movie lover in your life, our staff specialists are here to help.

For Educators: our Educator Match Form offers a way for childcare providers and educators of all ages to get recommendations for books and resources that support their curriculum and learning plans.

Staff Picks & Blog Posts

Not sure what you are in the mood for? Our Staff Picks are curated lists across genres, themes, and affinity month for readers and viewers of all ages!

Blog Posts explore timely topics, library programs, and community resources – helping point you to CLP materials and trusted partners.

Here to Help Booklists for Children and Adults

Book recommendations for life’s moments, big and small. For children and their caregivers, our Here to Help Booklists are designed to help share stories together and have conversations to help young children make sense of the world around them. Seeing diverse experiences represented in books helps children to explore their own identities and develop empathy for others.

For adults, Here to Help Booklists provide information and support in navigating life experiences.
